Sam Smith is a graphic artist and musician from Nashville, known for his iconic film posters, album covers, and creative projects spanning diverse media.
A passionate cinephile, Sam has made many memorable and iconic covers for The Criterion Collection, as well as theatrical posters for some of today’s most progressive distributors including Janus Films, Grasshopper Film, and A24, working on campaigns for films by Denis Villeneuve, Ryusuke Hamaguchi, Olivier Assayas, and Carlos Reygadas.
His other work includes editorial illustrations for the New York Times, book covers, children’s art, and album covers for artists including Dawes, Burt Bacharach, and Hiss Golden Messenger.
As a drummer, keyboardist and producer, Sam has worked with Ben Folds, Kacey Musgraves, Lambchop, Zac Clark, William Tyler, Tristen, Joe Pisapia, and many other Nashville luminaries.
Sam created and co-hosted the design podcast The Poster Boys and launched his own soundtrack radio show OST on WXNA in Nashville, where he lives with his wife and two Scottish Folds.
